Every year, we participate in University of Maryland's Maryland Day presentation. Maryland Day is a day designed to showcase all of the clubs, organizations, and societies at the University of Maryland. For Spring 2012, we helped kids make their own silly putty using glue and Borax crystals! The silly putty was a huge success, and we look forward to creating another fun, innovative way to showcase our sorority next year.
In order to spread the word about A.O.E., we invite everyone to join us in some fun events where prospective sisters get to learn about our sorority and meet some new friends. This fall we held a tie-dying event on the Animal science fields where sisters and prospective members had the opportunity to learn about A.O.E. while making some cool shirts! Having these information sessions is really important so girls can get acquainted with our values and decide whether or not they would like to be a part of our sorority.
Engineering Student Council Dodgeball
This fall A.O.E. participated in a dodgeball tournament held by the Engineering Student Council. It was a great event to meet other engineers and have some fun!
The current sisters of A.O.E. invited all of the alumni to come tailgate and catch up before we watched our football team play a great game!
We went to the Stamp Student Union to have a fun night of pottery painting and bonding. Check out what the sisters made!
Engineering Field Day
Each spring, many of the Engineering organizations at the University of Maryland gathered to compete in a team building Field Day event! Events range from flag football, to basketball, to three legged races. The winners earn money for their organization. A.O.E. looks forward to dominating this coming year!
Grilled Cheese Sales
Around the engineering building, one thing we are very well known for is our delicious snack stand! Right in the middle of one of the busiest engineering buildings, Glen L. Martin Hall, we sell Grilled Cheese and other snacks and refreshments for students in between classes. All the proceeds are used to fund sorority events, as well as other organizations we support, such as GEMS (Girls Excelling in Math and Science). The Grilled Cheese stand is often a place where Sisters and friends of the sorority come to relax and hang out in between classes while getting a delicious bite to eat!
